Prizes of the 20th International Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival 'Niepokalanów 2005'

Grand Prix of the 20th International Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival 'Niepokalanów 2005' was won by the film 'Moje zycie dla niego' (My life for him) about the well known Pope's photographer Arturo Mari. On 29 May 2005 the statuettes of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe were awarded in several categories: documentary films, amateur films, radio programmes and internet pages. 141 films and 80 radio and multimedia programmes from 21 countries were sent to Niepokalanów. Over 30% of the works were international. In last years there was only 10% of international production. Works from Indonesia and Mexico were sent for the first time. The Festival was held under the auspices of His Eminence Cardinal Józef Glemp, the Primate of Poland, who opened it on 21 May.
In the category of Documentary Films, the First Prize - ex equo, went to 'Portret damy - Karolina Lanckoronska' (A portrait of a lady - Karolina Lanckoronska) directed by Pawel Woldan and produced by TVP S.A., Program I, and 'Smierc na zyczenie' (Death by request) directed by Maciej Bodasinski, Grzegorz Górny, produced by Akwinata.
The category of television programme, First Prize: 'Marie et Jean-Paul II' (Mary and John Paul II) directed by Francois Le Roux and produced by Comite Francois de Radio Television, Paris, France. The category of educational programme, First Prize: 'The Call to Fatima' directed by Thomas McCormack, produced by Euro Finance Group, Dublin 6, Ireland.
The category of amateur film, First Prize: 'Nad Jeziorem Malawi' (By Malawi Lake) directed by Father Stanislaw Rafalko, produced by Salezjanski Osrodek Misyjny (Salesian Mission Centre), Warsaw, Poland,
The SIGNIS International Prize: 'The Cashbook' directed by Praveen Fenn, Nigel Vincent, Marina Patrao, produced by Whitelight Aproxm 8, India. The Prize of the Franciscan Monastery in Niepokalanów and the National Association 'The Knights of the Immaculata' was given to 'Gwaltownik wiary - rzecz o ks. Franciszku Blachnickim' (The man of faith - the life of Father Francis Blachnicki) directed by Adam Krasnicki, produced by Ksiegarnia sw. Jacka, Katowice, Poland, TVP S.A. Katowice Division.
The Special Prize of Bishop Adam Lepa went to 'Droga, prawda, zycie' (The Way, the Truth and the Life) directed by Lech A. Kujawski and produced by M.K. Production - Marcin Kunicki, Gdynia, Poland 2004. The Special Prize of the Polish Association of Human Life Defenders went to 'Szansa na zycie - Hospicja' (A chance for life - Hospices) directed by Monika Jargot-Kedzierska, produced by Wytwórnia Filmowa "Dydakta", Warsaw, Poland.
In the category of radio programmes two ex equo prizes were granted to 'Radosny rachityk' (Joyful rachitic person) by Czeslaw Borowik, Polskie Radio Lublin, and 'Cud lubelski' (Lublin miracle) by Krystyna Bednar, produced by Archikatedra Lubelska. In the category of multimedia programmes the winner was 'Miriam - Diaporama Mariana Rymkiewicza' (Miriam - Diaporama of Marian Rymkiewicz). The internet pages of Katolicka Agencja Informacyjna (Catholic Information Agency) www.ekai.pl was the best website. The second prize was given to website of 'Niedziela' www.niedziela.pl
The Special Prizes of Julian Kulenty 'Multimedia in the service of evangelization' were awarded to Archbishop John Foley and Msgr. Ireneusz Skubis.
