CANONIZATION OF BLESSED JOHN PAUL II COMING SOON

On 5 July 2013, with the consent of pope Francis, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints passed a decree acknowledging the miracle assigned to the intercession of blessed John Paul II. Thus, a canonization roadwas opened for the Polish pope.

- A great joy and satisfaction - these words were said by prelate priest SÅ‚awomir Oder, a postulator of the canonization process of John Paul II, when he commented on the decree of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Referring to indiscretion of media, Fr. Oder only confirmed that it is all about a case of a woman from the Central America. She was suffering from brain aneurysm.

In relation to the suggestions speaking about a possible common canonization of two popes: John Paul II and John XXIII, Fr. Oder emphasized that the Holy Father authorized the publication of decrees concerning both of the blessed popes. - It is difficult for me to say whether these suggestions will be confirmed. It lies in my competence - the postulator of the canonization process of John Paul II stated. The date of the consistory during which decisions about the canonization will be made, will be set by the Holy Father.

After announcing the decision of pope Francis about the acknowledgment of the decrees concerning the canonization of the both blessed bishops of Rome, the Vatican journal 'L'Osservatore Romano' asked the prefect of the Congregation of the Cause of Saints cardinal Angelo Amato what was the common for John XXIII and John Paul II and how he evaluated their profiles. Cardinal Amato said that the common thing for them was Mary and the Vatican Council. - Both of the future saint popes have many things in common, especially their lively religiousness of Mary and their life and activity were influenced by the Second Vatican Council - he explained.
