Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, the metropolitan of Cracow:

HE WAS A PASSIONATE OF ECCLESIASTICAL MATTERS

After receiving the message about the death of cardinal Nagy, Cardinal Dziwisz said that everybody was aware that cardinal Nagy had already been in his old age and was ill, but ‘this death was surprising’. – Cardinal Nagy was a prominent theologian, lecturer, member of the International Theological Commission, constituted of the most prominent professors. Moreover, he was a very nice man – said the Metropolitan of Cracow. – He was a passionate about ecclesiastical matters and a real friend of John Paul II – he added. Cardinal Dziwisz emphasized that cardinal Nagy had talked with John Paul II a lot, they were in a great friendship, and what was common for them, were walking in mountains and a close cooperation. On 21October 2003 he was raised to the cardinal dignity by pope John Paul II. – Cardinal Nagy was a friend who always said what he thought and what others thought. He was honest, but with highly good manners – emphasized cardinal Dziwisz.
