A STATEMENT ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN ‘KAROL WOJTYŁA YOUR CANDIDATE IN EVERYDAY CHOICES’

THERE IS NO CONSENT TO THE POPE’S IMAGE DEPRIVED OF SACRUM

The Centre of John Paul II in Cracow ‘Do not be afraid!’ and the sanctuary of St. John Paul II were very anxious to accept the campaign of the Centre of John Paul II’s Thoughts in Warsaw, and are allegedly reminding about the 10th anniversary of John Paul II’s passing away to the Father’s Home.

I would like to emphasize that using the image of the Saint Pope and promoting mottos which are explicitly associated with electoral campaign pursued at that time, is unacceptable. It should be added that according to the decision of the Church, after beatification and canonization of John Paul II, the day reminiscing his person is 22 October; day of 2 April – although it is a historical date of his passing away to Father’s Home – should not be used to organize any kind of ceremonies reminding about the Pope’s death, especially a campaign which have nothing in common with the person of the saint. Poles, remembering the moment of the Pope’s death, are asking for his intercession today. Believers, looking at the official image of beatification and canonization of the saint, recall themselves about his teaching which he has left to us. Whereas the image of the Pope which is promoted in the campaign of the Centre of John Paul II’s Thoughts in Warsaw, was, gently speaking, deprived of sacrum, to which we cannot agree, on behalf of the Centre of John Paul II ‘Do not be afraid!’ in Cracow and pilgrims arriving to the sanctuary of St. John Paul II in Cracow.
