Editors

Thanks to engagement of a team of scientists under supervision of the vice-president of the National Remembrance Institute prof. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk and many volunteers other 22 Polish heroes regained identity. In the Presidential Palace, on 1 February 2018 identifications notes were given to the families of identified victims of the totalitarianisms. – They had been faithful to their vow till the end, and they had been fighting for independent and sovereign Poland – the Polish president Andrzej Duda said during the ceremony. As he emphasized, finding debris of heroes of our fight for independence is catching up with the backlog which will make it possible to return them honours they deserve after the years of negligence. – Through the act of burial we do not return them their dignity – as they have always had it – but we return them their dignity in Poland – emphasized Andrzej Duda.

- In these faces, in the fates of these people, there is a dramatic history of Poland in the mid of XX century – said the president of the National Remembrance Institute, PhD Jarosław Szarek.
