DISCIPLES OF JESUS – MESSENGERS OF THE RESURRECTION
HENRYK WITCZYK
Courageous and pious women are present in various moments of Jesus Christ’s life. On Good Friday and on Easter Saturday, the Church solemnly read these fragments of the Gospel which tell us about the presence of women – students of Jesus – at the cross and grave of the Teacher, whom they were following till the end. All the Evangelists say unanimously that Risen Jesus appeared to them, women, as the first ones. »

JOHN PAUL II A FATHER AND FRIEND OF THE YOUTH IN THE WORLD
During a ceremony of passing signs of the Worldly Youth’s Days, which took place on the Palm Sunday on 13 April 2014 in Rome on the Square of St. Peter, pope Francis said: - John Paul II, who was an initiator of the Worldly Youth’s Days, is going to become their great patron. In the community of the saints he will still be the father and friend of the youth in the world. A group of the Brazilians gave the Cross of the Worldly Youth’s Days and the icon of Our Lady ‘Salus Populi Romani’ to their friends from Poland. »

The real holiness ‘smells nice’, delights, enchants, attracts like a magnet and is liked by everybody. It was so – and is so – with the holiness of John Paul II. In his case it has one more value. We read in books about previous heroes of faith, whereas we saw holiness of John Paul II with our own eyes, and our children heard about it from our tales. »
YOUTHFUL PORTRAIT OF KAROL WOJTYŁA
MAŁGORZTA CICHOŃ
A sporty young man, wearing a delicately checked shirt and a jacket, entered a photographic studio. Paweł Bielec, 36-year-old owner of a new photographic laboratory at Karmelicka street 50 in Kraków, talked with students a little. He took out a brown envelope on which he had written: ‘tableau’. The young man looked at a mirror and corrected his hair combed backward. He took a seat indicated by a photographer. »
THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE IRREPLACEABLE
ALINA CZERNIAKOWSKA
Winter is over. The early spring is smiling with the sun, bird’s singing and hope for a better and happy life. Everyone is busy with his own life. Tired, in a hurry we sit down in front of TV, computer screens, we flip through glossy magazines which is easy and fun. It may be possible, but from 10 April 2010 everything became different, and, first of all – we are different, although we are not aware of it. It looks as if we lost the ground beneath our feet and found it difficult to keep balance. »

Elections for the European Parliament will be held on 25 May 2014. Poland in the next 5-year-old term of office will be represented by 51 euro-deputies in the parliament of 766 members. I do not have to add how important the current elections are because they are going to be held in the extremely difficult moment: the whole free world is looking how the European Union will behave towards aggression of Russia against Ukraine. »

Media inform about perfidious ways of deceiving elderly and helpless people. There are many such cases. I think it is high time suitable state institutions looked at this problem. Certainly, is criminals deceive – let me name them as – the private ones, wheedling money for a grandson or using a different method, using hatred and generosity of elderly people, it is enough when police, procurators and courts are dealing with such bad people. However, the matter is getting more complicated when criminals come to action, somehow the official one, in ‘white collars’. »

POLISHNESS AS A MOTOR FOR PONTIFICATE
GRZEGORZ POLAK
We received an excellent present for the canonization of John Paul II from the Paulines who had edited a Polish biography of the Holy Father in Polish, written by an Italian historian and publicist Andrea Riccardo. His work should be placed on a par with the exemplary monograph by George Weigl, considered as the best one so far. The work of Riccardi will make us verify the opinion that we know nearly everything about John Paul II. It is impossible to get to know the work of the Polish Pope without reading this book. »
