DAY OF CHURCH MUSICIANS

In Częstochowa on 19-24 November there was the 15thDay of Music. This year’s edition was devoted to two music people connected with Częstochowa: the late Prof. Krzysztof Pośpiech and Fr. Prof. Kazimierz Szymonik. The Feast of Music, organized for 15 years by the Association of Friends Gaude Mater, presents works of prominent people connected with music life of Częstochowa and the region. »

THE BIGGEST ASSET OF ENTERPRISE IS THE MAN

On 16-17 November there was the 30th Jubilee pilgrimage of railway workers at Jasna Góra. The Central Holy Mass, celebrated on 17 November at Jasna Góra gathered over 10 thousand of railway workers with their families, who arrived by eight pilgrimage trains. There were also delegations of railway workers from Slovakia, Hungary and Belarus. »

75 YEARS THE POLISH SECTION OF THE VATICAN RADIO

Guglielmo Marconi was a fervent Catholic and really wanted the radio – the work of his life serve to evangelization. Also Pius XI thought that the Church in its activity must use modern mass media. Having signed Lateran Treaties in 1929, under which the Vatican State was established, it was possible to build an independent papal radio station – Marconi himself was running the works on starting it. »

PROF. SKARŻYŃSKI REWARDED WITH A PAPAL MEDAL

Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, a widely-known surgeon and a specialist in otorhinolaryngology, audiology and phioniatrics, was honoured by pope Francis with the Medal ‘Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice’ (For the Church and Pope). The Medal granted in recognition of engagement and work for the sake of the human being and the common wealth, on 18 October was granted to Prof. Skarżyński by cardinal Kazimierz Nycz during a ceremony in the House of Archbishops of Warsaw. »

Suchowola has not seen such a funeral yet! – once people, who were walking a few kilometres on a field, muddy road from the church to a graveyard, were saying so. And, indeed – it was beautiful. Magnificently. A few thousand people from all over Poland. A few hundred priests, a few bishops, a cardinal. There was not even enough place for many of them in a graveyard. Thanksgiving for life of the saint priest’s mother clearly give way to grief and mourning. »

Sometimes warmer clothes, featherbed, a few pots. No more than 200 zlotys. The rest of their things had to be left for the Germans. Taking a bigger number of items was punished with death penalty.
